Early Life and Education
Brent Faiyaz began writing songs when he was 12 years old. Faiyaz claimed that it was understandable that his parents did not always support his musical aspirations because he was “always preoccupied” by his passion for music.
Career
In order to advance his musical career, Faiyaz left his hometown of Columbia, Maryland and relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina before starting to upload his experimental music to SoundCloud in 2014.
He later settled in Los Angeles, California. He released his debut single, “Allure,” on January 19, 2015. Faiyaz’s debut EP’s lead track, “Invite Me,” was made available on June 1st.
On September 19, 2016, the day before his 21st birthday, the A.M. Paradox EP was released to favorable reviews from music reviewers.
In collaboration with music producers Dpat and Atu, Faiyaz founded the Sonder band in October 2016.
On October 25, the group released their first single, “Too Fast.”
Rapper GoldLink included Faiyaz and rapper Shy Glizzy on the song “Crew” on December 16, 2016.
He is currently in the early stages of creating a new album called Make It Out Alive. Drake and Faiyaz’s new track, “Wasting Time,” were both released on July 1, 2021.
