Early Life and Education
Big Zulu was born in Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa where the singer hails from and had his early education.
While growing up, he spent most of his time listening to Maskandi and Isichathamiya music, influenced by Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Phuzekemisi and Imithente.
Big Zulu lived in the vaal, a place called Palm Springs, having born into a middle-class family who were not so wealthy but his parents are supportive of his career.
Career
Big Zulu spent several years as a taxi driver and quit in 2008 to pursue his music career and began writing songs and performing in 2009.
Due to his talent and ability to sing and rap, he earned the titled “King of Rap” in the rap battle contest held by Back to the City.
He made his breakthrough into the music industry with his debut single Donsa Nkabi which was released in 2016.
Big Zulu signed a record deal with Universal Music Records in 2015 and in 2018 he released his debut project, Ushun Wenkabi album, with singles such as “Ang’mazi umama” and “Home“
The talented singer and rapper rose to become one of the best South African musicians, earning collaborations with the likes of Damien Marley, Kwesta, Sjava, Cassper Nyovest and Zakwe.
Zulu launched his own record label Inkabi Records in 2019, singing Mduduzi Ncube to the label and in August 2020, Zulu partnered with Spitz as the ambassador of Carvella.
King Zulu is a philanthropist who has the people at heart. In September 21, 2021, Zulu started charity and donated with laptops and printers to Obonjaneni Primary School.
