Early Life and Childhood
Anderson was born Brandon Paak Anderson on February 8, 1986. Paak grew up in Oxnard, California, a city north of Los Angeles on the Pacific Coast, until he was eight years old. He later relocated to Ventura, where he attended Foothill Technology High School.
Paak has two half-sisters who are older than him and one younger sister. His mother was the abandoned daughter of a Black man and a Korean woman during the Korean War. In the 1950s, she was adopted by an American who brought her from Seoul to Compton, California.
Paak’s father was a black man from Philadelphia who developed a drug and alcohol addiction. At the age of seven, Paak saw his father assault his mother. It was the final time. Paak saw his father, who was later imprisoned.
Career
He was 12 years old at the time. Paak began rapping in high school after joining a church band and learning to play the drums.
Around that time, Paak’s mother was a successful strawberry seller, a major industry in Oxnard, and could afford to buy her son musical instruments.
Producers were interested in Paak’s demo tape, which he released. However, he did not sign any deals because he was unwilling to change his music to fit current trends.
Paak’s mother bought strawberry fields to expand her business, but El Nio destroyed her crops, forcing her to declare bankruptcy.
She supported her family by becoming a professional gambler. However, when.Paak was a high school senior, his mother was charged with failing to declare her winnings and sentenced to seven years in prison.
When his girlfriend encouraged him to return to music, he moved to Los Angeles at the age of 21 and studied drumming at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood. His girlfriend briefly became his wife, but the marriage was later annulled.
When his new girlfriend got pregnant, Paak returned to Ventura and began working on a weed farm, where he eventually became a dealer.
This provided him with a steady source of income, but When Paak lost his job, he had no savings and had spent all of his money.
.In order to support his family, Paak returned to Los Angeles to pursue music seriously. He was a member of the Free Nationals as Breezy Lovejoy.
Breezy Lovejoy released two albums in 2012: O.B.E. Vol. 1 and Lovejoy. When he was hired as the drummer for Haley Reinhart, a former American Idol contestant, Paak found a steady income in the music industry.
Silk Sonic, a neo-funk group paying tribute to a shared love of 1970s soul, was formed by.Paak and co-collaborator and singer-songwriter Bruno Mars. The origins of the group can be traced back to 2017, Paak and Mars met on tour.
As their schedules were disrupted by COVID-19 lockdowns, the two found time to collaborate. An Evening with Silk Sonic, the band’s debut album, was released in 2021. The single “Leave the Door Open” peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Personal Life
. Paak is married to Jae Lin, a South Korean singer whom he met at the Musicians Institute. Soul and Shine are the couple’s two sons. They live in a bilingual household.
Anderson Paak has a non-profit organization, The Brandon Anderson Foundation’s Paak House, that provides young people with access to the arts, education, and other enriching experiences that they may not have been opportune to have.
Paak House hosts a charity concert every year. The event was previously held in Los Angeles, but Paak chose to relocate it to his hometown of Oxnard.
