Early Life and Education
Born on October 9, 1990, in Rukungiri, Uganda, Alex Muhangi attended local schools and began his career in radio during high school at 96.9FM Radio Rukungiri and 89.1FM Vision FM Mbarara.
He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication from Makerere University and holds diplomas in Journalism and Sound Engineering, the latter from the Academy of Sound Engineering in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Career
Starting in 2009, Muhangi participated as a contestant in StandUp Uganda, finishing as 2nd runner-up despite little preparation.
In 2010, he formed a comedy group called The Crackers, which produced the TV show “Mic Check.” Later, in 2016, he launched Comedy Store Uganda, which has become the country’s largest weekly comedy show.
Muhangi has performed internationally across Africa, North America, Europe, and Asia. He is also the CEO of Masters Music, a record label he founded in 2014.
