Abdulrasheed Bawa, born on April 30, 1980, is a Nigerian detective and law enforcement agent who is currently serving as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Bawa replaced Umar Mohammed Abba, who was the acting Chairman of the commission.
He is originally from Jega, Kebbi State where he was born and raised.

Early Life and Education
Abdularasheed Bawa was born in Jega, Kebbi State, where he obtained his early education.
He attended Modern Primary School Birnin-Kebbi, and got his secondary school certificate from Government Secondary School Owerri in 1997.
Bawa graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics (Second Class Upper) from Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto in 2001.
He had his Master’s degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from the same university in 2012 and is currently studying for a Bachelor of Law at the University of London.
Career
Abdulrasheed Bawa became the new EFCC chairman after taking over from Ibrahim Magu, who was the acting chairman of the agency.
Bawa joined the EFCC in 2004 as an Assistant Detective Superintendent (ADS) and was appointed to head the commission’s investigations of Diezani Alison-Madueke, a former former Minister of Petroleum Resources and her associates in 2015.
He has been part of the prosecution of advance fee fraud, official corruption, bank fraud, money laundering and other related crimes.
Abdularasheed Bawa is the youngest chairman of the EFCC till date.
He obtained training from the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the United States Financial Crime Enforcement Network (FINCEN), and the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crimes (UNODC).
Prior to his appointment, he was the Deputy Chief Superintendent of the anti-graft agency.
