Early Life and Education
Born to Sally and Alfred Tsipa in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal, Lemogang was a lively child diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) at the age of nine.

Engaging in sports like soccer, hockey, chess, swimming, and athletics helped him manage his condition. He discovered his passion for acting during Grade 10 and pursued drama studies at Grantleigh College in Richards Bay.
After convincing his parents, he enrolled at the South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance (AFDA), where he graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Live Performance.
Career
Lemogang Tsipa began his acting journey with the South African film Felix (2013) and made his international debut in Alien Outpost (2014). He gained further recognition with supporting roles in Eye in the Sky (2015) and Wallander (2015).
In June 2023, Tsipa embraced what he calls “the most iconic role” of his career by portraying Shaka Zulu in the Mzansi Magic epic Shaka iLembe.
To authentically embody the adult king, he underwent intensive training with a stunt coordinator to master traditional Zulu weaponry and dance, followed a strict fitness regimen and high-protein diet, and collaborated with animal handlers to build confidence around snakes for specific scenes.
Following Shaka iLembe, he appeared in Showmax’s fantasy drama Blood Psalms (2022) and, in early 2024, starred as Sol in SABC3’s crime thriller Killer Front Page.
His performance in Killer Front Page was praised by IOL for its “steely resolve that is unsettling at times,” further cementing his reputation as a compelling and dynamic actor.
