Early Life and Education
Onome Ebi was born on May 8, 1983 in Lagos, Lagos State, but originally hails from Urhobo, in Delta State.
She grew up with her family and began playing football at a tender age in Lagos State before she began her education.
Career
Before moving to Piteå IF and Djurgårdens IF in Sweden’s Damallsvenskan, Onome Ebi played for Bayelsa Queens FC in the Nigerian Women’s Championship.
However, she found it challenging to adapt to the cold weather in Sweden, and the amateur nature of the league led her to return to Turkey to play for Ataşehir Belediyespor FC in the First League.
Afterward, she played for Turkish sides Düvenciler Lisesispor and Ataşehir Belediyespor in the First League.
She also made her Champions League debut while playing for Ataşehir Belediyespor in August 2012.
Ebi later returned to the Swedish Damallsvenskan to join Sunnanå SK before moving to Belarus to play for FC Minsk in the Belarusian Premier League.
Her time in Belarus was successful, as she was part of the team that won the Belarusian Premier League, the Belarusian Women’s Cup, and the Belarusian Women’s Super Cup twice.
In both club and international competitions, Ebi prefers to wear the number five jersey, which holds special significance for her. She currently plays for Chinese second division side Henan Jianye, where she signed in 2018.
