Nollywood actress and content creator, Monalisa Ayobami Stephen, popularly known as Gabacci, has passed away at the age of 33. She died on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in Lagos after suffering complications related to low blood sugar and internal bleeding, according to a statement from her younger sister and confirmed by Seun Oloketuyi, CEO of Best of Nollywood (BON).
Monalisa was widely recognized for her passionate advocacy on issues such as body image, mental health, and self-love, using her platform to inspire important conversations. She appeared in films like Mami Wata (2023) and Breaded Life (2021) and was a prominent voice encouraging confidence among plus-size women.

Her passing has deeply saddened fans, colleagues, and fellow actors. Actress Bimpe Akintunde mourned Monalisa’s private struggles and offered heartfelt condolences to her family.
In her last social media post, Monalisa shared a joyful video promoting confidence and self-acceptance, underscoring her lifelong dedication to empowering women.
