Basketball During College
Singler averaged 13.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in his early college career, helping the Blue Devils to a 28-6 record.
His performances that season earned him the ACC Rookie of the Year award, sparking speculation that he might follow in the footsteps of Kevin Love and leave UCLA after one season to pursue a career in the NBA.
Singler debunked the notion that he needed to mature before reaching the major leagues. Singler averaged 16.5 points per game as a sophomore.
In his junior year, he led the school to its fourth national championship, won NCAA Final Four MVP, and was named the NCAA finals’ fourth-best player.
Despite his desire to enter the NBA after the championship season, Singler returned to Duke to finish his final year of college. Singler averaged 16.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game as a senior at Duke.
The Detroit Pistons selected him with the 33rd overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft after he graduated from Duke University, where he finished his career as the fourth-leading scorer all-time with 2,392 points.
Professional Career
Kyle Singler began his professional career with the League ACB side CB Lucentum Alicante due to the 2011 NBA lockout.
He decided to join Real Madrid rather than return to the NBA after a few visits with the club. After winning the Spanish Royal Cup in 2012, Singler returned to the Pistons for his NBA debut, where he was named to the second all-rookie team.
Kyle spent three years with the organization before joining the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2015. He spent four years with Thunder, including two playoff appearances in 2016 and 2017, before returning to Spain to play for Monbus Obradoiro in 2018.
