Born on December 28, 1974, in Alexandra Township near Johannesburg, he was the second of five children in his family.
Growing up in poverty and social hardship, he attended Gordon Combined School. From a young age, he faced many difficulties and became involved in criminal activities during his teenage years, leading to multiple arrests.
