Early Life and Education
Gabriel Jess Iglesias was born to Esther P. Mendez and Jess Iglesias on July 15, 1976 in San Diego, California.
Esther, his mother, reared him on her own. He has Mexican ancestry. Iglesias grew up in Long Beach’s Section 8 low-income housing after first living in Riverside, Corona, Santa Ana, Baldwin Park, and Compton.

Gabriel Iglesias worked for a cell phone firm in Los Angeles before switching to comedy full-time in 1997, which led to him losing his car and home.
