Early Life and Education
Emem Usoro is a native of the southern Nigerian state of Akwa Ibom. She graduated from the University of Uyo with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry in 1996, and the Obafemi Awolowo University with a Master of Business Administration in 1997.
In an effort to study more, she enrolled in a Senior Management programme at the Lagos Business School of the Pan African University in 2007.
At the Harvard Business School, she took part in two programmes: general management in 2009 and strategic management in 2008. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).
Career
At the now-defunct Bank PHB, Emem Nnana Usoro started her career in 2004 as a branch manager. She worked for the bank as a zonal head from 2004 to 2007 and as the Victoria Island region’s regional executive from 2007 to 2009.
She began working with the United Bank for Africa in 2010, and from that year to 2013, she wisely served as the branch’s regional head in Akwa-Ibom and Abuja.
She achieved significant managerial positions in the bank thanks to her tenacity and dedication while working for UBA, and in 2022 she was named the institution’s Executive Director.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Emem Nnana Usoro to the position of Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) beginning in September 2023.
