Early Life And Education
Raised in the neighborhood of Dansoman in Accra, E.L initially studied at St. Martin De Porres School before moving to Jack and Jill School in Roman Ridge to complete his Junior Secondary School education.
It was during his time at Presbyterian Boys Secondary School (PRESEC) Legon that his passion for music truly blossomed. Upon finishing high school, E.L furthered his education by enrolling in the University of Ghana, Legon, where he pursued a degree in economics and political science.
Career
In his first year of college, E.L. joined forces with Jayso’s Skillions Records and helped co-produce the Skillionaires Demotape. After graduating, the Skillions disbanded and E.L. embarked on a solo career, setting up his own studio in Asylum Down.
Despite releasing a single with Jay Foley, Wolf, and Kwaku T, his planned mixtape never materialized. He later upgraded to a better studio in Osu, investing heavily in equipment.
Following his signing to BBnZ Live, E.L. released his debut double album, Something Else, in 2012. This was followed by The B.A.R Mixtape in 2014 and B.A.R 2 in 2015, which featured a concert with Wanlov, Ko-Jo Cue, and DJ Mic Smith.
His second studio album, Elom, was released in 2016, and he performed alongside Lauryn Hill at a concert celebrating artists from the African Diaspora.
Continuing his success, E.L. released B.A.R 4 in 2017, followed by B.A.R V in 2018, which featured collaborations with Falz, Akan, and Bryan The Mensah.
In 2019, he released a joint album with AI titled The Linkop, showcasing their chemistry on tracks like “For 2.” This was followed by the Songs For Girls 3 EP in 2020, featuring a mix of genres.
