Early Life and Education
Dolly was born into a family of seven in Lagos, Nigeria, as the fourth child and first daughter to Cyprain and Esther Unachukwu. She attended Ideal Girls Primary School and New Era Girls Secondary School in Lagos.
She earned a diploma in Television Production from Jos Television College in 1988, studied phonetics at the FRCN Training School in Lagos in 1989, and later received a diploma in Law from Lagos State University in 1992.
She further obtained a degree in Film and Video Production from the University of East London in 2008.
Career
Starting her acting career at 16, Dolly initially appeared as a secretary in a television drama in 1985. She later landed the role of Prisca in the soap opera Mirror in the Sun (1986).
Her breakthrough came with the television series Fortunes (1993). She starred in movies such as Deadly Affair and its sequel, and played a notable role in the controversial Glamour Girls (1995), which was highly successful abroad.
In 1997, she produced Wildest Dream, inspired by her own life. After relocating to England in 2000, she completed her university studies and produced/directed The Empire (2006) before returning to Nigeria to continue her film career.
Personal Life
Dolly’s first marriage to Emmanuel Nwokenkwo ended in 1994, and they have one child together. She remarried Jonathan Ezea in 2000, but that marriage was annulled within the same year. She has two children and divides her time between Nigeria and the UK.
