Early Life
Camavinga was born in 2002 in a refugee camp in Cabinda, Angola, to parents of Angolan-Congolese and Congolese descent, who had fled the civil war in the DR Congo. He grew up with five siblings.
When he was just two years old, his family relocated to France and settled in Fougères. It was there that he spent his formative years.
Initially, Camavinga dabbled in judo, but he eventually decided to fully commit to his passion for football.

Camavinga joined Rennes’ youth system at age 11 and signed his first pro contract in December 2018, becoming Rennes’ youngest pro at 16 years and one month.
He made his pro debut in April 2019 at 16 years and six months. On August 18, 2019, he assisted in a win against PSG, becoming the youngest Ligue 1 player with an assist at 16 years and 281 days. He won UNFP Player of the Month that month and scored his first goal in December 2019.
