Who is Ed Sheeran?
Edward Christopher Sheeran born February 17, 1991, is an English singer-songwriter. He is popularly known for his hit songs which include “Perfect”, “Photography”, “Shape of You”, and “Thinking Out Loud” amongst others.
Early Life and Education
Ed Sheeran was born in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England on February 17, 1991. He is 32 years old as of August 2023. He was born to John Sheeran (Father) and Imogen Sheeran (Mother) as the youngest of two children. His father was a curator at Cartwright Hall in Bradford, while his mother worked at Manchester City Art Gallery as a culture publicist turned jewelry designer.
In December 1995, when Ed Sheeran was four, he moved with his family from Hebden Bridge to Framlingham in Suffolk, where he attended school. He has an older brother named Matthew Sheeran who works as a composer.
Ed Sheeran attended the independent Brandeston Hall preparatory school (now Framingham College Prep School), formerly Thomas Mills High School, which is also in Framingham.

As of the time of publishing this article (August 2023), Ed Sheeran is happily married to his wife Cherry Seaborn. The couple were first linked in July 2015 after they were spotted together in New York City. They announced their engagement in January 2018 and were married in August 2019. Cherry Seaborn was born on May 6, 1992, in Suffolk, United Kingdom. She is 31 years old as of August 2023. According to her LinkedIn page, Cherry Seaborn works as a manager at the consultancy corporation Deloitte UK. She previously worked as a senior risk advisory consultant at the company from 2016 to 2018.
In 2021, she completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Business at the University of Cambridge. She had previously studied in Durham, UK, and bagged a master’s degree at Duke University’s Furga School of Business in Durham, North Carolina.
While announcing the release of his fifth album, “Subtract” on March 1, 2023, Ed also revealed that his wife Cherry was diagnosed with a tumor while she was pregnant with their second child, Jupiter Seaborn Sheeran.
In an Instagram post, Ed revealed how he had scrapped the album he was working on to rewrite it in a week due to various devastating life events. He wrote:
Within the space of a month, my pregnant wife got told she had a tumor, with no route to treatment until after the birth. My best friend Jamal, a brother to me, died suddenly. I was spiraling through fear, depression, and anxiety. I felt like I was drowning, head below the surface, looking up but not being able to break through for air.
He added: For the first time, I’m not trying to craft an album people will like, I’m merely putting something out that’s honest and true to where I am in my adult life.

Career
In 2004, Ed started recording his music and independently released his first collection of work, “Spinning Man” In 2005, he released “The Orange Room” EP which featured four tracks – “I Love You’”, “Addicted”, “Misery” and “Moody Ballad Of Ed”. In 2008, he moved to London to pursue his music career, playing small venues and busking. In the same year, Ed auditioned for Britannia High at the age of just 16 years old.
In January 2011, Ed released yet another independent EP, “No. 5 Collaborations Project”, featuring UK grime artists such as Wiley, IME, Devlin, and Ghetts which gained mainstream attention.
In 2015, he won British Male Solo Artist and British Album of the Year for ‘X’ at the BRIT Awards. He also received the Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year.
In March 2023, Sheeran officially announced on all social media platforms that his sixth studio album, Subtract “would be released on 5 May 2023.
In August 2023, Sheeran announced a new album, Autumn Variations to be released on 29 September 2023.
