Early Life and Education
Alex Usifo was born in Lagos on April 16, 1953, to the late Mr. Barnabas and Mrs. Patricia Anobi Omiagbo.
After a few years in Lagos, their family relocated to Ibadan, where Alex completed his primary education.
He continued his secondary schooling at St. John Bosco’s Grammar School in Ubiaja, Edo State.
Following his graduation from the SS Peter and Paul Major Seminary in Bodija-Ibadan, Alex gained admission to the University of Lagos to pursue a diploma in public communication.
Subsequently, he earned a degree in English with a second-class upper division from Ambrose-Ali University.
He furthered his education by obtaining a Master’s degree in English from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) and later achieved a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Babcock University.
His academic journey culminated with him being elected as the President of the 2016 Postgraduate Class at Babcock University, situated in Illishan-Remo, Ogun State.
Career
Alex Usifo initially aspired to become a Catholic priest before changing his career path.
Before venturing into acting, he held positions at various media organizations, including Radio Nigeria Lagos, Voice of Nigeria, NTA Ilorin, and others.
In the early 1990s, he co-founded a modeling agency in partnership with Andy Amenechi. Later on, he established his own agency, Silver and Gold Productions, featuring models like Sandra Petgrave and Toyin Raji.
His acting journey commenced in 1984 with a role in the film “The Return of the Native.” He soon took on leading roles in productions such as “Natas” and “Two People.”
Alex Usifo continued to work diligently, contributing to NTA productions like “Echoes of Life” and “Turning Wheel.”
