Early Life and Education
Born on 13 August 1991 in Johannesburg, South Africa, Bonko Khoza’s passion for acting started in primary school when he played Captain Hook in a school play.
He completed his secondary education at the National School of Arts in 2009, majoring in Fine Arts. He further honed his skills at the Market Theatre Laboratory, where he studied Theatre and Performance for two years.
Career
Bonko’s professional acting journey began in 2015 with his acclaimed performance as Jabz in Necktie Youth, which earned him a Best Actor nomination at the Tribeca Film Festival.
He went on to feature in the History Channel mini-series Roots and starred in Beautifully Broken. His work on the Showmax series The Wife as Mqhele Zulu won him the SAFTA Golden Horn Award for Best Actor in a Telenovela in 2020.
