Early Life and Education
Born and raised in Nairobi’s Eastlands area, Nviiri experienced a challenging upbringing surrounded by the hardships of gang-afflicted neighborhoods.
He is one of two siblings and credits his mother’s spiritual guidance as a strong influence in his life.
Nviiri attended Dagoretti High School before studying Mechanical Engineering at university. After graduation, he briefly worked at his father’s workshop but left due to his passion for music.
Career
Nviiri began his music journey as a gospel artist, learning to play instruments and working with a gospel band that toured South Korea. Later, he transitioned to songwriting and videography, working behind the scenes with Sauti Sol before being discovered as a singer.
His breakthrough came in 2018 when he co-wrote the hit single “Melanin” for Sauti Sol featuring Patoranking. He signed with Sol Generation Records in 2019 and debuted as a solo artist with the single “Pombe Sigara.”
