Vatican city reports

The Vatican has confirmed first case of coronavirus in the city few days after Pope Francis tested negative to the virus.

According to reports, a patient in the Vatican city health services had tested positive for coronavirus.

Spokesman Matteo Bruni said the discovery was made on Thursday and that outpatient services in Vatican clinics had been suspended to sanitize the areas.

The clinic inside the tiny city state – which has some 1,000 residents – is used by priests, residents and employees, including those now retired, as well as their relatives.

Matteo Bruni said the Vatican was getting in touch with all those who had passed through the clinic, as per protocol.

He said its emergency services will continue, adding that the Vatican had informed Italian health authorities.
