Alhaji Isiaka Iyanda Sawaba, popular Ibadan-born Fuji musician, also known as ‘Easy Sawaba’ has passed away at the age of 71
The legendary Fuji musician was reported dead on the early hours of Wednesday April 6, 2022 at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. However, the details of his death was not disclosed at the time of this report.
During his time, Alhaji Isiaka Iyanda Sawaba had more than twenty-two albums including Suru, Igbo Odaju, Pata Olokun, Ayetoto, and Oroseniwo including others from the stable of old Adetunji Records (Babalaje Records) owned by the late Olubadan of Ibadanland — Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji.
The legendary Fuji singer was signed on the stable of the Keji Okunowo-led defunct Sony Music in 1992, where he released another successful album titled ‘Message‘ which was produced by Laolu Akins.
The veteran Fuji musician was one of the best between 1970 and the ‘80s. He released his last album titled ‘Correction’ in 2018.
Easy Sawaba became more popular with his leading role among the then younger generation of Fuji musicians who supported the late Fuji icon, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister during his rivalry with General Kollington Ayinla.
